What we’re about…
Our world has too little valued the tremendous nature of the Bible, it is the word of God, the teaching of the Holy Spirit, placed in our hands through the power of the most High and the blood of the Martyrs. They, like your salvation, are a gift, an expression of the Love of God, and his desire for you to know Him. In them, He has revealed His glory, and will. Such a gift must be treated with the passion, and seriousness it deserves, and our hearts should rejoice in its pages for it is a gift so great that we are unable of exhausting its mystery or beauty.
It is a voice from the world of Spirit to the realm of men, a bridge to draw our thoughts from the blindness of the darkness into the light. Its pages are more than mere stories and histories but are rather the means by which God the Holy Spirit has chosen to speak clearly to His people.
The depth and mystery of scripture are not intended to drive you away from study, but rather to pique your curiosity and pull you towards the words, will, and nature of God. It is my hope that this podcast will assist you in your journey through scripture, for you will no doubt face many obstacles along the way. The princes of the dark desire you neither to read it nor understand its mysteries, but will whisper to you that the task is too hard or too confusing, Do not listen to their lies and misdirections, but rather seek the help of the Lord, the counsel of godly friends, and the community of believers around you. For God desires you to take up His Word and read.
Our hope at the Two Trees is to help you understand what you’re reading. We discuss the people and the places mentioned in scripture, linking the history of the ancient world to the modern reader. We linger over the weird spots and take the time to explain the world views of the cultures who have left us these books. Scripture was written for us but not to us. There was an original audience in mind when the books were written and we want to help you move past tradition and assumption into the wild and wonderful world of scripture.
